AN application to convert a house on Goddard Avenue into a house in multiple occupation has been withdrawn.

The proposals were fiercely opposed by local residents who submitted over 25 objection letters to council planning officers.

The move would have seen the Old Town house, which is not currently occupied, converted into a nine-bedroom layout with individual rooms to be rented out.

Among the issues raised by neighbours was the impact on parking along Goddard Avenue, the destruction of a stone wall to create room for side alley parking and the detrimental effect on community cohesion.
