THE staff at a town centre shop are offering a £500 reward for information after thieves smashed their way in on Tuesday morning.

Police were alerted to the break in at the Go Vape electronic smoking shop shortly after 3am.

A neighbour heard glass smashing and the alarm sounding at the Havelock Street store and called 999.

The thieves were only in the shop for a matter of minutes and the staff say it appears they knew what they were after.

Jason Knowles said: "They've come in, smashed the cabinet and gone straight for the high end mods.

"They've only taken certain premium liquids off the shelf too."

The staff estimate that around £1,000 worth of stock was stolen in the raid.

Police officers were on the scene quickly but despite deploying a police dog they were unable to track down the suspects.

Now the staff are offering a reward in the hope that it will make people think twice about such acts in future.

"They're going to try and sell this stuff in the pub or wherever," said Jason.

"If someone knows there's a reward out maybe they'll decide not to buy it and give the police the information instead."

The Go Vape shop, which is owned by Jason's daughter Sophie, has been open for 18 months.

It is the first time they have been the target of thieves but the incident has made them rethink the security measures they might have to take in future.

Wiltshire Police are investigating the break-in with forensics officers at the scene this morning searching for evidence.

If you have any information about the suspects, you can call the force non-emergency number on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
