An application will be made to the Community Interest Company Regulator and Companies House to alter the objects of Community Energy Lower Basset Down C.I.C., as set out below.

Beneficiaries: The company's activities will provide benefit to:


The community of Wiltshire and in particular residents and communities in the vicinity of Swindon.


Activities & Related Benefit:


To set up, own and operate a solar photovoltaic farm of up to 5MW in Swindon in Wiltshire. The rights to the farm have been transferred to the company and the company has negotiated the contracts with the relevant electricity provider, secured a connection to
the National Grid, applied for accreditation under the Feed-in tariff scheme and managed the construction and commissioning of the farm. The company will manage the site's operation. The solar farm is delivering renewable electricity to the distribution network. It is anticipated that the company will generate a revenue, including through income paid in respect of the solar site under the Feed-in tariff. The company aims to consult with the community and it is anticipated that, following consultation, certain of the revenue will be used to support the types of activities set out below.

Environmental education, including for instance workshops for schools and other groups such as private households. Increased knowledge of environmental issues, increased participation by the community and improved environmental well-being.


Support of local enterprises, for instance supporting community groups working in connection with environmental or social matters and funding community groups in respect of environmental and social innovations. Encouragement of increased local social innovation and social responsibility, environmental awareness and job creation.

? Support of conservation initiatives. For instance, supporting local waste management in connection with new and environmentally friendly systems. Promotion of a cleaner local environment, reducing waste and aiming to increase local biodiversity.

Activities promoting the relief of fuel poverty and encouraging energy efficiency.

For instance educating households in relation to energy efficient behaviour and living. The aim will be to reduce fuel costs for the local community, including heating costs. This should result in warmer houses over Winter and decreased local fuel pollution, which should promote healthier lives.

Community participation initiatives. For example, encouraging the local community to use digital technology to understand and strengthen the collective voice of the community. Increased community empowerment and engagement, aiming to result in better quality services and reduced loneliness.


If the company makes any surplus it will be used for...

If the company makes any surplus the distributable profits will be used for the benefit of the community by funding one or more of the activities set out in this form. Dividends may also be paid out from time to time to the shareholder(s) in accordance with the company's articles of association and the applicable legislation.

It is anticipated that the company will require relatively long term financing, with a repayment period of between 10 - 20 years.
