SCREAMS of joy rang out and tears flowed at The Commonweal School as students celebrated their exceptional results.

Chloe Mae Trollope from Old Town cried tears of delight when she opened her envelope to reveal two As, two Bs and three C grades.

“I’m so happy because I did better in English than I thought I did. I shocked myself,” she said.

“I was worried but it’s all come out for the best.”

Chloe will study history and sociology at Cirencester College.

Best friend Ruth Flame was similarly over the moon with her outstanding results which included three A* and four A grades

“I’m so so happy, “said Ruth, from Church Ward, “it’s a shock but the best feeling in the world.”

Megan Lowe scooped an incredible four A* and seven A grades. The delighted teenager was congratulated by mum Mandy.

“It’s not what I was expecting at all, I thought some of the exams were very difficult but it’s all worked out, I honestly couldn’t be happier at this moment.”

She will now study biology, chemistry, French and history A levels.

And the top results kept rolling in as Valentina Opare-Darko took home an A*, seven A grades and two Cs.

Valentina, who is from Park South was overwhelmed at her grades.

“I’m surprised more than anything. I worked really hard but seeing those results is brilliant. I opened the envelope and the first grade I saw was an A and I thought, this might go well

“I can’t wait to tell my parents.”

Valentina is on her way to Royal Wootton Bassett Academy to study maths, biology, chemistry and French A levels.

Conlan Broderick, who lives in Rodbourne was pleased with his grades of two As, eight Bs and one C

“My results are okay, I’m happy with them but I thought I might do better in one or two subjects. The important thing is that they get me onto studying for my A levels here,” he said.

Associate head teacher Bob Linnegar said:

“I am so very proud of our students, they have surpassed themselves. All their hard work and effort has paid off and given them the achievements that they so richly deserve. I am excited to see them in September working just as hard at their C6 studies. I would like to thank parents and staff for all the hard work and support that they have given to these young scholars.

It was a momentous year for Commonweal which saw 63 per cent of students achieve 5A* to C grades, including English and maths of which 32 got five or more A/A* grades.

In English 79 per cent of students achieved a C and above with 73 per cent in maths.
