DORCAN Academy is toasting this year's GCSE results, the number of those getting A-C grades going up by eight per cent.

Headteacher Sherryl Bareham said: "We wish to celebrate the success of our top achievers: Kaiya Williams and Emily Webber who both gained ten GCSEs at grades A* and A, Georgia Grant and Reannon Haddrell who gained ten good GCSEs, nine of them at A* and A and a number of others who gained ten good GCSEs with at least six being at grades A* and A - Ella Butler, Jamie Byrom, Mitchell Collett, James Frost, Chloe Hill, Emma Palmer and Emily Tran.

"This is a fantastic achievement and testament to their hard work and determination.

"We are also particularly proud of those students who showed absolute commitment and effort to their studies and ended up achieving a personal best by going above and beyond their predictions.

"This is not only testament to their hard work but also our highly dedicated staff who are willing to ‘go the extra mile’ for students, and the support of parents. Well done to staff and students alike."

Foundation subjects showed significant improvement on 2015, the highest achieving subjects being graphics, at 95% A*-C, resistant materials, 93% A*-C, Spanish at 85% , A*-C and PE, 82% A*-C.
