AMAZON is opening a delivery station in Swindon, working with independent delivery companies to deliver orders to its customers.

More than 20 people will be employed directly at the new delivery station when it opens in September.

And Amazon will use ten independent delivery companies who are hiring more than 150 drivers to deliver parcels to the Swindon area.

It is not yet known where the delivery station will be.

Jamie Stephenson, UK Director for Amazon Logistics, said: “Amazon Logistics adds capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery network, enabling us to meet the delivery needs of customers.

"Amazon Logistics is also helping independent local delivery companies to grow their businesses by providing state of the art technology to deliver Amazon orders.”

Amazon Prime members receive unlimited one-day delivery on millions of items and can have parcels delivered on Sunday at no additional charge.
