CHRISTMAS may still be months away but it is not too soon to grab a ticket for this year’s special prize draw.

The draw is being held to raise funds for the radiotherapy appeal with the hope that ticket sales will help Brighter Futures reach £1.5 million by Christmas.

Anyone can win the top prize of £3,000 cash, and with the second prize being £1,000, the third £500 and five other cash prizes of £100 to be won, it is certainly worth entering.

The team has 20,000 tickets to sell and they can be bought from the Brighter Futures fundraising office in the Brunel Treatment Centre at the GWH.

There will also be a pop-up ticket office in the main atrium at the hospital on September 16, October 3, October 12 and November 23.

The draw will be held on December 16 and tickets cost £1 each.

Jennifer Green, head of fundraising at Brighter Futures, said: “We are very pleased with how the appeal is going and we are hoping to reach the £1.5million mark by Christmas.

“This time of year people start planning ahead to 2017 and we want to try to appeal to companies who are thinking about choosing their official charity for next year.

“The number of people being affected by cancer is still increasing, with the GWH seeing 3,000 cancer diagnoses every year. We need to provide better quality cancer care locally so people don’t have to make the journey to Oxford for treatment.

“There are so many stories out there of people being affected and we need to find a way of providing people with better care. That’s what the radiotherapy appeal is all about.”
