ENTRIES to VisitWiltshire’s annual photograph competition have continued to pour in as the contest approaches the end of its penultimate month.

Photographers up and down the county only have until the end of September to get their prize-winning snaps in for the judges to consider.

Among the entries this month are a selection of images from Eldene resident Carolyn Keel. She has submitted an image of the night sky taken from Aldbourne looking towards Liddington as well as two images of the Caen Hill Locks and Stonehenge.

The judges have also received photographs from Bradford on Avon resident Ann Warren, who has captured images of Avebury, Bideston, Stonehenge and Iford.

Devizes resident Peter Daltrey has also been out and about this month with his camera. HIs latest entries include shots of Silbury Hill, Stonehenge, Avebury Downs and a wheat field near Devizes.

Entries have also come in from further afield from Shelley Bacon who lives in Martock, Somerset. Her visit to Caen Hill Locks at Devizes inspired her entries to the competition.

Salisbury resident Ana Gobledale has also been out and about with her camera – and quite early in order to capture her image of Stonehenge.

“This was taken on our second walk on the National Heritage Stonehenge-Avebury 50 km hike challenge,” she said. “We headed out early with a flask of tea before breakfast, and before the tourists arrived. We started at Durrington Walls, past Woodhenge and the Cuckoo Stone, and on through fields and woodland to Stonehenge. There were spits of rain and bursts of sun - a magnificent morning.”

Her other submissions include a shot of Old Sarum and an image taken from her favourite table in The King George Wetherspoons in Salisbury, looking across the Avon toward the Salisbury United Reformed Church on Fisherton Street, and the clock tower.

Bishopstone resident Suzanne Price has also been out capturing the county's rural roots on film with images of a combine harvester at Croucheston Drove and a 17th century dovecote at Faulston.

To be in with a chance of winning, the photos should capture the essence of life in Wiltshire, its people and landscape, and tie in with any of VisitWiltshire's four ‘Timeless’ themes. These are:

• Timeless Wonders: including Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury Cathedral, the Kennet & Avon Canal and Wiltshire’s White Horses

• Timeless Places: including market towns, villages and other attractions

• Timeless Pleasures: including shopping, food and drink, festivals & events, arts & entertainment

• Timeless Nature: including big skies, rolling hills, flora and fauna

There will be one first prize of a £300 voucher for the best photograph overall, plus two runners up prizes of a £50 voucher each.
