ONE of Britain's next top models was the red carpet guest of honour at the launch of an award-winning town hairdresser’s brand new venture.

Goldsworthy’s cut the ribbon of their new retail outlet, The Hair Shop, at its Swindon salon on Thursday evening, welcoming a star from the hit TV show to perform the honours.

Angel Cole was joined for the grand opening by current Mrs Wiltshire Galaxy Georgia Holmes and former winner Miss Swindon Hannah Golding.

The salon welcomed guests and members of the public who had the chance to enjoy a glass of bubbly and browse the new selection of styling products, including Kerastase, Wella, Nioxin, Shu Uemura and GHD.

Steven Goldsworthy said: “We’re delighted that Angel officially opened The Hair Shop. The shop will enable customers to buy the products we use in store and enjoy that premium salon feeling at home.

“People can drop in at any time to browse and purchase whatever they need. It’s something many customers have been asking for, so The Hair Shop is responding to a genuine need.”

With over 35 years of experience in hairdressing and an interest in the science of hair, Steven Goldsworthy is also an expert on hair loss.

He can diagnose exact types of hair loss from the many types of alopecia and reasons why they occur - and give each client care and advice specific to their condition.

Goldsworthy’s boasts quite the display cabinet of awards as a five-time winner of the prestigious Wales and South West Hairdresser of the Year award, with salons in Swindon, Cirencester and Marlborough.

This year, Josh Goldsworthy, colour master and style director at Goldsworthy’s, was nominated personally for the fourth time for the award.

He is also a member of the styling team on Britain’s Next Top Model - a TV series following ambitious models as they vie to become the new British catwalk queen.

Working on the show, he has travelled with the models to shoots in the UK and overseas, including exotic locations in Jamaica and earlier this year was seen on our TV screens working his magic on the models before they took to the catwalk.

Angel Cole is of Jamaican, Guyana and Indian heritage. She is the first openly gay model on the show and hoped to pave the way for others. Her dream photo shoot would be a black and white nude shoot.
