A 94-YEAR-OLD woman had £500 stolen from her following a distraction burglary in Royal Wootton Bassett yesterday (SEPT 30)

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men visited the victim's address along Gainsborough Way around 2pm on Friday and asked about completing work on the guttering and roof. ,

A spokesman for Royal Wootton Bassett Police said:

"He managed to talk his way into the house and stated he would carry out some work after being paid. The victim handed over the cash in return for the work, but the man left the house and has not returned.

"The elderly victim handed over £200 to the conman and a further £300 was taken by his accomplice."

The first suspect is described as a white man, in his mid to late 30's, approximately five foot 11 inches tall. He was fairly well built wearing dirty white overalls, the second male was in his 20's slimmer and shorter wearing jeans and a red top.
