BUSINESS owners are signing up to a new scheme to cut their gas, electricity and water bills in Wiltshire.

The Wiltshire Business Energy Scheme has been set up to help businesses in the region gain cheaper prices through collective purchasing.

It is free to join and follows in the footsteps of other successful schemes currently running throughout the UK, including Lincolnshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands, with others to follow.

Endorsed by local MPs and prominent business owners from across the region the scheme enables companies to reduce their fixed energy costs.

Swindon South MP Robert Buckland said: “This scheme has been operating successfully in other parts of the country and I am delighted that it is now coming to Swindon and Wiltshire.”

The Swindon Chamber of Commerce representative Leigh Robinson said: “We welcome the integrity and professionalism shown by The Wiltshire Business Energy team and thank them for coming to this part of the country.”

When a business or organisation registers for the scheme there is no cost or obligation. All that is required is a signed letter of authority and a copy of their current energy statement.

The LOA allows the company to research the marketplace on their behalf and enables them to obtain the information they require so that they can offer their recommendations.

Each business still retains ownership of its own bills. This is just another way of buying gas, electricity and water.

The Wiltshire scheme is run by Compare Energy Bills.

Area director Dominic Machell said: “This is an increasingly favored mechanism for enabling businesses to reduce their fixed energy costs.

“We are building relationships with businesses and increasing trust in the industry”.
