SWINDON TOWN star Yaser Kasim made a fan’s dream come true as he picked up a takeaway last weekend.

The midfielder dropped into Moshan Box Dinner for some jerk chicken, but ended up donating a signed T-shirt to one of the team’s biggest fans

Josie Williams, from Old Town, had popped into the Devizes Road eatery for a takeaway when her husband and STFC fan Victor clocked the midfielder.

Supporting the club is a family affair for the couple as their 23-year-old son Floyd has supported the club since he was eight.

“I had asked Floyd if he wanted to go and get a takeaway for me but he said he was too tired,” said Josie, “I ended up dragging my husband and the dogs along.

“A chap in a football shirt came in and I thought no more of it. I was bored waiting and I was on my phone,” she said.

But when Josie’s husband Victor spotted it was the talented footballer and Iraq international player he soon alerted her.

“He banged on the window and I came outside and he said, ‘I think that’s Yaser Kasim from Swindon Town’.

“ I’ll talk to anyone so I wasn’t that nervous and I’m not the biggest football fan so didn’t know who he was. I knew I had to get a photo to show Floyd he should have come to the takeaway though.

“Last time I took some photos of Swindon Town footballers I was told off by Floyd for not getting their autographs so I wanted to make sure I did this time.

“I just asked him for a selfie which he immediately said yes to. He was so lovely and really couldn’t have been nicer. “

And Josie went away with more than just a chicken curry when Yaser gave her a memento to take home to her die-hard fan son.

“I asked for an autograph and I couldn’t come up with a piece of paper, I even asked for a menu but they didn’t have anything. Then all of a sudden he pulled out his training shirt and said he would sign that for Floyd. I couldn’t believe it, I was shocked.”

And Josie said the gesture had showed that not all footballers are divas

“He was absolutely lovely and he didn’t have to do that for Floyd so it was so kind.

Josie scored top mum points when she presented the signed t-shirt to Floyd when she got home.“He was really happy with the shirt, he smiled and said thanks mum so I could tell he was really pleased with it.

“It was so kind of Yaser and he really is a credit to the team, he didn’t have to do that and it really made Floyd’s day.”
