A CHARITY event to raise funds for Julie Basleigh who has a brain tumour will be held at The Old Bank in Wood Street, Old town on November 18.

Tickets go on sale today at £35 for the evening event which will include a buffet, a glass of Prosecco and a raffle ticket for all the women provided by make-up artist Freya Pixie and there will also be life music."

"Douglas Love the manager at the Old bank has been very supportive, and offered the venue for the event. All the money raised will go towards Julie's cancer treatment," said Mara Soto who has been raising money all over the world for the past ten years.

Earlier this year Mara walked 81 miles from Swindon to Buckingham Palace to raise money for Julie who has a very aggressive Grade 4 Glioblastoma (brain tumour) and needs urgent medical treatment in order to gain more time with her girls 13-year-old Libby, three-year-old Ava-Rose and husband Tony.

" I have a passion for helping people in need. It is my mission in life to help others whenever I can," said Mara.

"Three months ago I didn't know Julie but in this short time, she has shown me what it means to never give up, how to fight for the people you love, to fight for your health and to never take life for granted. Julie is a real fighter. Her smile still lights up a room despite the pain she feels, her struggle to talk or to move her arm.

"Her sheer determination makes me feel proud and I am honoured to be part of her journey. I will continue to help Julie and her family to raise the money she needs for the treatment.

"It is sad that someone should have to just await their fate due to not having the funds available to pay for treatment.

The event starts at 7pm. For tickets go to: www.tobb.co.uk or contact Mara Soto at marasoto.charity@gmail.com
