ONE Morrisons employee bit off more than he could chew yesterday as he tucked into one of the store’s special Halloween pizzas.

The Hot as Hell Halloween Meat Feast has been on sale for the past couple of weeks.

But for this weekend only, the stakes have been raised and customers can buy the pizza sprinkled with a notorious Naga Viper – one of the hottest chilli peppers ever measured.

Described by store manager Carl Price as “a meat feast with a bit of added spice”, the peppery pizza was yesterday sampled by 56-year-old employee - brave Dave Williams.

Feeling “apprehensive”, Dave gingerly approached the table and began to prod at the freshly cooked pizza, before bracing himself and shoving into his mouth a nice juicy slice.

So hot is the Naga Viper that the store’s pizza makers have to wear gloves and safety glasses when handling it.

“It’s actually not too bad,” said Dave, before confessing a few moments later: “Ok, I’m really starting to feel it now.

“It’s quite an intense tingling in the mouth and up the nose.

“It’s a nice flavour, though.”

It was all going rather well until Adver photographer Dave ‘not-so-brave’ Cox thought he’d have a slice.

Dave was left red in the face and with a tear streaming down his cheek, before summing up the strength to remark: “It’s bloody hot.”

The pizza costs £2.60 and is available at most Morrisons stores.
