REMEMBER, remember the fifth of November... It’s time to celebrate once more Guy Fawkes’ foiled plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament some 400 years ago.

The conspirator was discovered in the cellar of the Parliament with 36 barrels of gunpowder in the early hours of November 5, 1605. He was swiftly arrested and executed.

  • DORSET and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is issuing advice to the public to ensure Bonfire Night celebrations are safe and enjoyable.

Vikki Thomas said: “Ways to reduce the risks include: always follow the instructions on each firework and light them at arm’s length, using a taper and ensure that bonfires and fireworks are away from sheds, fences and other flammable materials. But attending an organised firework event is the safest way to have fun.”
