BUSINESSES in the town are gearing up to go head-to-head at Swindon Sports Quiz Chartered accountancy firm Monahans is calling for the town’s sporting business brains to pit their wits against each other to raise money for Swindon Carers’ Centre.

The annual Swindon Sports Quiz takes place on November 10 at Swindon Town Football Ground. This year will also be the quiz’s 25th anniversary.

Rounds will include general sports and historical sporting achievements, as well as special rounds on major recent sporting events.

Last year’s event saw 41 teams from businesses across the area come together in a fiercely fought battle of sporting eggheads, with Intel’s Foregone Conclusion team taking the top spot, narrowly winning by two points.

The night also raised more than £1,550 for charity, which means over the last 25 years the quiz’s charitable total has topped £30,000.

The chosen charity for 2016 is Swindon Carers’ Centre, which provides help and support to the 21,000 carers in Swindon.

Steve Elliott, a partner at Monahans, in Swindon, said: “The Swindon Sports Quiz is a fiercely fought competition and the first place spot is a coveted award.”

As well as being a great night out, the quiz also raises funds for Monahans’ Swindon office’s Charity of the Year, which for 2016 is Swindon Carers Centre. There are still a few places left for teams of up to four people, so I’d encourage businesses across the town to sign up as soon as possible.

Entry costs £30 for a team of up to four.
