A VAN driver whose vehicle collided with a pensioner, who died as a result of her injuries, in Swindon has admitted causing her death by careless driving.
Stephen Wiltshire was behind the wheel of a 16-plate Vauxhall Vivaro when it struck 80-year-old Rhoda Griffiths on College Street in the town centre.
Wiltshire, 23, of Witts Lane, Purton, pleaded guilty to a charge of causing death by careless driving when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.
His van was in collision with the woman close to the junction with Sanford Street at about 5pm on Monday, January 4.
Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to Friday, January 6, and released Wiltshire on bail until then.
And he also imposed an interim driving ban with the total period he will disqualified for decided when he is sentenced.
