THE clock is ticking for a silent charity auction in aid of Ainslie's Pavillion which ends at midnight on Sunday, December 11.

This annual auction raises funds for a charitable project so bidders can potentially bag a bargain and also raise money for a good cause.

All proceeds will go to help re-furbish or re-build Purton Cricket Club’s pavilion in memory of Ainslie Duffell – a huge cricket fan – who died from breast cancer in 2015.

Ainslie was diagnosed when she was 35 and her son Alex was just a toddler. She fought the disease for 12 years but finally succumbed in February last year. She usually supported Alex and her husband Phil at their cricket matches, but because of illness and the fact she was in a wheelchair she was not at the club when Alex scored his first century aged just 13.

It was only after her death that Phil discovered in her journal how upset she had been at missing the milestone in her son's life, so the aim now is to give the pavillion disabled access in Ainslie's memory.

The fundraising team of the pavillion project has already raised more than £30,000 to date and so far £500 has been achieved from the auction in bids for items including scarves, jewellery, vouchers and cinema tickets.

The aim is to raise enough ready for the club’s 200th anniversary in 2020.

There are more than 30 lots on offer this year starting from just £1 and anyone who would like to bid should email: bids@diamondpaservices.co.uk

Once the bidding closes, the item will go to the person who has made the highest offer and once payment has been received, the items will be sent out. Payment details will be sent to the highest bidders the week after the auction closes.
