A HUSBAND and wife who have been righting wrongs throughout Swindon as police officers have had their hard work celebrated.

PC Matt Barnett, who works with the Dangerous Drug Network, was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for a case involving a gang of drug dealers who sold more than £100,000 worth of heroin and crack cocaine in the town.

The T-Network brought the drugs from Birmingham and split it into thousands of deals, using local addicts they had recruited to sell to other users. The culprits were jailed in January.

His wife PC Rachel Barnett was recognised for her community work in the Dorcan area and she received the Excellence in Partnership Working award.

Her relationship with Dorcan Academy was described as “outstanding” by superintendent Sean Memory and she has continually tackled issues such as cyber bullying, inappropriate use of social media, self-harming, drug use and inter-familial disputes both in school and the wider community.
