A DRIVER has been bailed after his lorry was involved in a seven-vehicle crash on the A420 north of Swindon.

The crash happened at about 7am last Thursday on the A420 near Faringdon on the Wiltshire/Oxfordshire border and involved two lorries, including one owned by Devizes firm Hams Transport.

Five people were injured and one was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by air ambulance. Another went by road to the same hospital. Three people were treated at the scene.

None of those hurt were said to have life-threatening injuries.

This week a spokesman for Hams, which is based on the Hopton Industrial Estate, said one of its drivers was involved in the crash biut had not been been injured in the crash and was working as normal.

The spokesman said: "We don't know a lot about what happened. It is in the hands of the police but our driver has not been charged.

"I have spoken to him and he is working. He was not injured."

Thames Valley Police said a 43-year-old lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The man has been bailed until January 29.
