DESPITE the grey and freezing weather, children were left enchanted on Saturday by a very special Disney princess at Toothill’s first Christmas Fayre.

Princess Elsa, the star of Disney’s hit film Frozen was just one of the attractions at the weekend.

The event, which drew crowds to Toothill Farm House, was organised by community group Toothill Big Local with Link and Learn Preschool.

As well as meeting Elsa, families could sample home-made jams and honey, buy presents from craft stalls, take part in a pirate-themed treasure hunt and have their faces painted.

Hayley Jackson, 36, community engagement worker at Toothill Big Local, said: “Everybody really loved it – I think they found it really magical meeting Elsa and eating hot dogs.

“It was really good to get people down to the farm house area who had never been there before or who didn’t know about it.

“We just want to do activities in the local area to get more people involved in their community.”

Gilly Betts, manager of Link and Learn Pre-school, said: “One of our mums belongs to an ABBA tribute band. But she also used to do children’s parties as Frozen’s Elsa. Children absolutely love her.

“We made our pre-school messy room into an icy grotto.

“The little children’s faces were a picture when they saw her. They loved it. They thought it was wonderful.”

The pre-school, which currently has six children aged from three to five, recently moved to Toothill in September after 21 years at the Link Centre.

The Christmas Fayre was a chance for the pre-school to make its mark on its new home.

“We did it to put our name on the map,” pre-school manager Gilly, 65, said.

The pre-school has plans to improve the new building’s outdoor space next year.

“We’ve got a fantastic garden. We have lots of plans for it for the spring. We’ve got vegetables and plants that we’re going to grow.”
