A SWINDON man has been charged with attempted murder following an assault in Badbury Park on Thursday that left a woman with serious injuries.
Bikash Gurung, 41, of Boyton Close, appeared before magistrates in Swindon this morning.
Gurung appeared in court dressed in a grey police-issue tracksuit and flanked by a court security officer, he did not enter a plea at this stage and was remanded in custody.
He will appear again at Swindon Crown Court on February 3 for a plea and case management hearing.
Police officers were called to a house in Boyton Close, Badbury Park, shortly after 9.30pm on Thursday.
A 36-year-old woman had sustained serious head, face and hand injuries and was taken to the Great Western Hospital by ambulance.
She was later transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: "The victim is in a critical but stable condition in hospital and the family are being supported by specially trained police officers."
Wiltshire Police would like to hear from anyone with any information about the incident.
