A £5,000 grant towards the cost of an artificial grass pitches for junior players is being bid for by Cricklade Cricket Club.
The application, which is due to be decided when the Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Area Board meets on Wednesday, is for help to pay for two at its Southam ground.
Poor weather affects the number of games that can be played on the existing pitches.
The club said: “The field adjacent to us is owned by Prior Park but we have used it a few times as it has an artificial wicket on it. We would like to work in partnership with the school to get a new two artificial pitches laid specifically for junior cricket.”
Because members had to raise around £10,000 a year to run the club, help was needed to raise enough money for the new facility.
The total cost of the project is just under £21,649, but Prior Park School has pledged 50 per cent and aims to share use of the new pitches with the club.
