FUNDS to help a Swindon scaffolder who had to have limbs amputated following an accident just days before Christmas has seen more than £53,000 raised so far.
Jamie Mines suffered an electrical shock in the accident in Galton Way on December 19 and since then, the 33-year-old has remained in a critical condition in hospital in Bristol, where he was placed in an induced coma.
Friends rallied to support the dad of five-month-old twin girls by setting up a Go Fund Me page which has raised more than half the £100,000 target after Jamie had to have one leg and part of both his arms amputated.
Jamie moved to Swindon from his home town of Frome where he was a semi-professional football player and Frome Town Football Club is expected to hold a fundraising event in March.
It is believed that Swindon Town captain Nathan Thompson will be attending to show support.
It is understood Jamie was working for Boundary Scaffolding at the time of the accident and the Health And Safety Executive is investigating the matter. To donate, visit www.gofundme.com/raising-money-for-jamie-mines
