A FAMILY were left horrified last week when they returned home from holiday to find their house ransacked by thieves who made off with thousands of pounds worth of designer gear.

Jamie and Kerry Smith, who live in Marlborough Road, Old Town, were greeted with a scene of destruction when they arrived home from a two-week stay in Jamaica with their two young children on Thursday.(JAN 12)

The house had been raided with furniture overturned, clothes thrown about, a window broken, the children’s rooms turned ‘upside down’ and a raft of designer items stolen.

Wiltshire Police are investigating the incident

The healthcare company director, who believes the house was broken into three separate times on January 7 and 8, posted an appeal on Facebook, which has been shared nearly 700 times.

He said the family were distraught by the break-in.

“We returned home after a fantastic family holiday to discover that our house had been emptied and trashed by burglars while we were away,” Jamie, 37, said.

“The downstairs was untouched but the whole of the upstairs was completely trashed including my kids bedrooms which was horrendous to see.

“My son’s bedroom was smashed up, his bed and his wardrobe and his window were broken.

“He’s only five-years-old and is really upset by it all because he doesn’t have a bedroom now..”

Multiple designer items had been stolen from the house including multi-coloured studded Christian Louboutin trainers, a Louis Vuitton suitcase worth £2,300, Balmain jeans and 11 handbags.

Clothing, shoes and towels from designer labels Chanel, Mulberry and Balenciaga were also taken

Jamie said the burglary was constantly on his mind.

“I’m finding it difficult to sleep at night, I feel like I need to be on the look-out constantly,” he said.

“It feels like we’re living in a nightmare and it is so horrible to think that this could happen.

“We moved here because it was supposed to be safer and this awful thing has happened.”

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said:

“We were called around 6.30pm on January 8 2017 after a member of the public heard the alarm go off.

“Clothing, shoes and handbags were stolen. There was an untidy search made of the property.

“We believe the theft took place between the hours of 5pm on January 7 and 6.20pm on January 8.”
