TO celebrate National Popcorn Day tomorrow the youngsters of Orchid Vale Primary School were invited to a pre-celebration at the Tawny Owl pub in Swindon.

They were joined by a couple of older students from Bradon Forest School and to start with the celebrations got underway in an orderly fashion with everyone keen to try out their popcorn.

“However, when the children were asked to cheer, they followed instructions so enthusiastically that most of the popcorn ended up on the floor,” said a spokesman for the pub.

“But it was soon all smiles again as supplies were replenished.”

And she added: “Although popcorn is nothing really to do with beer, although if you add beer to anything in life you’ll get something delicious, Arkell’s just liked the fact that there’s a National Popcorn Day so the brewery invited the children along to celebrate.”
