A WOMAN was injured and her puppy is missing after a car left a bridge and overturned this morning.

The blue Fiat Punto came off the bridge and flipped onto its roof at around 7am on the B4696 Lydiard Plain.

A woman is said to have suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the Great Western Hospital for treatment.

A  four-month Jack Russell dog named Peanut was reported to be trapped in the boot but no trace of the animal could be found at the scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene and warned of icy and foggy conditions this morning.

The northern end of the Wood Lane junction was closed for one hour as police cleared the scene.
