WILTSHIRE Wildlife Trust's Rivermead Nature Reserve in Swindon and the Devizes and Roundway Orchard are to benefit from a £635 donation from the Swindon and North Wiltshire CAMRA Branch in memory of their previous chairman, Hans Hoffbauer.

Hans was chair of the Swindon and North Wiltshire CAMRA branch from 2011 to 2014.

Following his death earlier last year, the organisers of the 30th Swindon Beer Festival chose Wiltshire Wildlife Trust as their nominated charity in his memory.

Richard James, secretary of the Swindon and North Wiltshire CAMRA branch, said: “Every year we support a local charity through the collection of unused tokens at the Festival. Hans was a member of Wiltshire Wildlife Trust for many years so we thought it would be appropriate this year to select them as our festival charity.”

Neil Pullen, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust reserves manager, said: “We’d like to thank Swindon and North Wiltshire CAMRA for this generous donation to the Trust in memory of Hans. As Hans was a keen apple grower himself we have agreed with his partner that part of the donation should be put towards our orchard project in Devizes. The rest will be spent on the maintenance and upkeep of our Rivermead Nature Reserve in the centre of Swindon."
