A MAN has been jailed for causing criminal damage, assaulting a man and being abusive towards to two further people.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon heard that Jordan Wells, 21, of Dunford Road, assaulted a man by beating and been abusive towards a man and a woman on December 5. He also damaged three windows on December 5, causing £400-worth of damage.

On the same date he caused £30 worth of damage to a police cell. These offences put him in breach of a suspended prison sentence of eight weeks, which had been imposed in October of last year for burglary charge.

The magistrates activated his prison sentence and ordered that he pay £430 compensation.

A woman receive a suspended prison sentence for stealing £170 of clothing from Ralph Lauren in Swindon.

Sinitta Williams, 30, of Welch Road, Cheltenham, pleaded guilty to the offence committed on December 3 when she came before magistrates in Swindon.

The court imposed a six week prison sentence, suspended for a year. She must also pay a £115 victim surcharge and £35 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A man who took a car without permission and then damaging it while driving it when he was on drugs has been ordered to carry out a drug rehabilitation order and been banned from the roads.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon heard that Dominic Whitehead, 23, of Church Place, had used threatening or abusive behaviour towards another person on Saturday, September 24, causing that person alarm or distress. On the same date he had also taken a car without the owner's permission, causing damage to the W-reg vehicle.

Officers found he was unfit to drive due to drugs being in his system, and they also found him in possession of cannabis.

The magistrates imposed a six-month low intensity drug rehabilitation order which will see him treated by CGL, and ordered that he carry out 140 hours of unpaid work.

He was also banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and an £85 victim surcharge.

A 27-year-old man who was caught driving without a valid licence or any insurance at the start of December has had his license endorsed with six penalty points.

Chris Wilson, of Elborough Road, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court last month where he pleaded guilty to offences including failing to surrender to police bail.

Magistrates gave him an 18-week prison sentence suspended for 24 months. He must also take part in a thinking skills programme, completely 40 hours of unpaid work and pay £200.

A man has been ordered to pay compensation for stealing alcohol and Yankee Candles.

Michael James, 35, of Netherton Close, pleaded guilty to stealing £50-worth of booze from Waitrose on mill Lane on November 14 of last year and between one and six Yankee Candles from Boots valued at £18.99 on November 10.

The magistrates discharged the offences for a period of 12 months and ordered he pay £57 compensation along with a £20 victim surcharge and £35 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service for bringing the matter to court.

A woman has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work after admitting a fraud charge.

Swindon magistrates heard that – between August 1, 2011 and April 5, 2014, at Wroughton – Melissa Hudson, 43, of Orchard Road, Isle of Wight, failed to notify HMRC that she had reconciled with her husband, despite claiming a tax credit.

Along with her unpaid work, she must also pay £85 costs to the CPS.

A Bristol man has been ordered to complete an alcohol treatment programme after being abusive to a police officer and damaging a police cell.

Edward Cash, 46, of Syms Avenue, pleaded guilty to the charges dating from December 21 and 22 of last year when he made the derogatory remark to the officer and subsequently damaged a police cell.

In addition to his alcohol treatment programme with the probation service he must also pay Wiltshire Police £30 compensation and £100 to the officer for the racially aggravated remark.

A man who resisted a police officer and damaging a car and mobile phone has been fined.

Joe Lakey, 19, of Lyndhurst Crescent, Park North, admitted resisting two sergeants in the execution of their duty on December 20. He was fined £135 for this offence.

He further admitted damaging a W-reg vehicle on the same date and a mobile phone belonging to a woman. The magistrates ordered that he pay £200 compensation to the victim, along with £85 costs to the Crown prosecution Service and a £30 victim surcharge.

A man has been given a conditional discharge after he was abusive to another person.

James Harrison, 30, of Hedgerow Close, pleaded guilty to the offence dating from October 15. Swindon magistrates also ordered he pay £85 costs to the CPS and a £20 victim surcharge.
