THE Big Adventure Club company director Tracy Cook was delighted after they secured scored top marks in their latest Ofsted report.

The Churchfields Nursery and South Marston, Lawn and Lydiard Park afterschool clubs were all given ‘outstanding’ ratings following an inspection earlier this year.

The company was first set up in 1993 and now boasts 10 after-school clubs, four morning clubs and one day care centre, with more than 2,000 children on their books.

Tracey was also keen to highlight the work of her 22 members of staff, who worked tirelessly towards the inspection.

“We have been working with children for 24 years, but this particular round of Ofsted we managed to get outstanding which is really good,” she said.

“They look at your whole structure from start to finish, how your routine is, how your staff interact with the children and your policies.

“The staff know the children’s needs really well which one of the reasons why they are developing in lots of different areas.

“It just keeps going from strength to strength, we have a few expansion plans in the pipeline at the moment.

“We have been in the business a long time, The Big Adventure ethos is ‘quality, affordable childcare’ and it has been ever since it opened.

“So we have been working on making sure that quality is there in everything we do, it’s been a lot of hard work.”

While children are at The Big Adventure Club they can take part in a number of different activities which range from cooking, to learning a foreign language.

During their day visit, the inspector observed children, toured the premises and spoke to both members of staff and parents of the children.

Despite this, Tracey insists they did nothing out of the ordinary while Ofsted were with them.

“I know some buildings have a little panic when they get the phone call, because you only get 12 or 24 hours notice now, but we just carry on because, from our point of view, anyone should be able to inspect us on any given day," she said.

“We don’t do anything special just for Ofsted, we work on the ethos regardless of whether we have an inspection or not.”

After claiming the highest rating in all possible categories for their Churchfields day care and South Marston after-school club, Oftsed were full of praise for the company in their reports.

It claimed staff were ‘highly committed to achieving best the possible outcome for children’ and that they create a ‘welcoming and relaxed atmosphere where children develop a strong sense of belonging’.

They also had good things to say about the management of the company stating ‘leadership and management are exemplary’ and ‘the management team is ambitious about offering children and families an exceptional service’.
