A CLEANER who urinated in public and stuck his finger up at police officers in Swindon has been fined £100 for being drunk and disorderly.

Tomasz Marek Krych, 46, of Ferndale Road, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before magistrates in Swindon on Wednesday.

Prosecutor Kate Prince told the court that at 9.45pm on February 3 this year police received reports that a man had been sitting on a wall for an hour shouting and screaming.

The police tried to make contact with the man, who was clearly drunk, following him to make sure he left the area, and seeing him urinating in a bush on Southbrook Street.

When officers again tried to engage with the man he stuck up his middle finger in an aggressive gesture. He was then arrested.

Miss Prince told the court that Krych had been fined for an offence of theft in January this year and had committed two previous drunk and disorderly offences last year.

Through a Polish interpreter Krych, who represented himself, told the magistrates that his behaviour had not been appropriate but was how he behaved when he had been drinking.

“I try to fight it, however it is going pretty slow,” he said, adding that he had work as a cleaner but was only paid when he had a job.

He was fined £100 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30.
