A MAN is to be sentenced next month after admitting he sexually touched an underage girl.

Alex Butler, 20, of The Rosary, Royal Wootton Bassett, pleaded guilty to sexually touching the 14-year-old girl at Coate Water Country Park on June 10 last year.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon remanded him on conditional bail to register with police in accordance with the sexual offences act while a pre-sentence report is prepared on him. He is due in court again on April 4.

A man is to appear in the crown court later this month facing charges of child sex offences.

Darren Harbour, 46, of Islay Crescent, Highworth, faces four charges against a girl under the age of 13 between February 2007 and January 2008.

He will appear at Swindon Crown Court on March 31. In the meantime he was released on unconditional bail.

Denying two charges of assault by beating against two women and using violence to secure entry to a property, Jacob Kwametse will now stand trial.

The 24-year-old, currently of no fixed abode, denies all three allegations dating from February 17 at Royal Wootton Bassett. He will stand trial at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court in Chippenham on May 4.

In the meantime he was released on conditional bail not to contact the two alleged victims or enter a street in Royal Wootton Bassett.

A man has been jailed for more than three months after admitting a string of theft offences from John Lewis while on a suspended prison sentence.

Terence Donegan, 57, of Beaulieu Close, Toothill pleaded guilty to five charges of theft when he came before magistrates.

He admitted stealing eight bottles of champagne from the store with another man on Christmas Eve, £251-worth of alcohol from the same store on January 19 and a further 11 bottles valued at £187 two days later with the same man.

He also admitted taking a £499.99 Dyson air purifier on February 6 and a Dyson fan valued at £500 on February 11. Magistrates imposed a total jail term of 13 weeks.

A 14-year-old boy denied entering a home on Roseberry Street as a trespasser with intent to steal when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon.

The boy from Gloucester, who cannot be named due to an order protecting his identity, pleaded not guilty to the charge dating from February 2.

He was released on conditional bail not to enter Swindon save for appointments with his solicitor or court appearances. He will stand trial at Chippenham Magistrates' Court on April 13.

Admitting stealing a Lord of the Rings DVD box set from a town centre store has seen a man ordered to pay compensation.

Vito Rondinelli, 35, of Whitney Street, admitted stealing the DVDs from HMV on Regent Street on January 21 when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon.

He was ordered to pay £64.99 compensation to HMV along with £20 costs to the Crown prosecution Service.

After being caught over the drink drive limit while behind the wheel of a car a man has been banned from driving for more than a year.

Mark Smith, 49, of Enford Avenue, admitted the offence on February 10 when he appeared in the dock at Swindon Magistrates' Court.

The court heard that Smith had been driving an 05-plate BMW X5 on Duchess Way and when stopped he was found to have 52microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of his breath. The legal driving limit is 35mcgs.

He was fined £334, ordered to pay a £33 victim surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was banned from driving for 14 months, although this will be reduced by 107 days if he completes a drink drivers' awareness course.

A man caught with cannabis in his system while driving a car has been banned from driving for almost two years.

Luke Sutheran, 35, of Vicarage View, Little London, admitted driving an H-reg Toyota on Tewkesbury Way with 5.5mcg of cannabis in a litre of his blood. The legal limit, which is in place to take into account the possibility that someone could inhale the illegal drug by accident through passive smoking, is 2mcg.

He was fined £350, ordered to pay a £35 victim surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service. He was further banned from driving for 22 months.

Refusing to provide police with a specimen of his breath has seen Vincent Goodenough fined £400 and banned from driving for 14 months.

Goodenough, 52, of Radcot Close, Nine Elms, pleaded guilty to the offence dating from February 4. He must also pay a £40 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
