The case against a man who is accused of downloading extreme pornography has been adjourned so his mental health can be assessed.

David Galey is said to have had four images depicting bestiality on his computer when it was searched in April last year.

The 57-year-old, of Bendy Bow, Oaksey, near Malmesbury, may not be able to follow the trial process as a result of a stroke he suffered in 2007.

Galey's IQ had plummeted as a result going from normal to being on the borderline of learning difficulties.

In 2014 he was deemed unable to concentrate for more than five minutes at a time because of damage to his frontal lobe and was also very suggestible.

At the time he was also using a wheelchair, although Swindon Crown Court heard he was now able to drive.

Tessa Hingston, prosecuting, said that inquiries were being made with his GP to see if there had been any improvement in his condition.

Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case until Friday, April 7, and extended bail on Galey, who was not in court for the hearing.
