COMMUNITY groups brought a splash of colour to the Liden Centre at the weekend when St Timothy’s Church ran its first flower festival.

Chalet School pupils decorated a tree, members of the Filipino community created a flower filled photobooth and Brownies and Rainbows staged their own display to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the youngest branch of the Guide movement.

Organiser Janette Causer was delighted with the response.

“You never know how these things are going to go,” she said. “But there was so much enthusiasm to come and put on displays.”

The two-day event, staged with the help of 10 local groups, attracted dozens of visitors.

“It was absolutely lovely. I’m delighted at how it has gone,” said Mrs Causer. In fact it went so well there were already calls for it to be run again next year.

Money raised by the event will be sent to the Brighter Futures appeal.
