HAYDONLEIGH Primary School will be closed today while staff try to locate the source of a mysterious leak.

Workmen were called in earlier this week when it was noticed that water didn’t come out of the taps when they were turned.

Although the source of the leak is yet to be found there are suggestions that it could be in a pipe beneath one of the school’s buildings, which would be quite the job to fix.

Still, staff are optimistic that the school will be able to open on Monday and they have promised to keep parents informed at the day progresses.

A spokesman from Haydonleigh said: “We can’t see where the pipe is broken, so it’s not an easy leak to fix. People have been investigating but they are going to have to carry on working today.

“It’s slightly worrying because the water could be coming into the school somewhere, though no puddles have been found yet.

“We hope it’s nothing too serious and we’re hoping to be back on Monday.”

Staff took to Twitter to alert parents to the problem yesterday.
