NYTHE Primary School pupils can now step onto the pitch in style thanks to a generous donation from a local business towards new kits.

The nine-strong football team at the school have had to make do with a three-year-old kit when they play matches in the Swindon Primary Schools Football Association East league.

But after hearing about their desperate need for some new attire, Nic Miles, who owns Sonic Leisure in the town, stepped in to lend a helping hand in providing each of the team a brand new outfit.

Karen Fenton from the school said the boys were ecstatic by the arrival of their new kits which they first wore at their match last Thursday.

She added: “It costs a lot of money to buy these new kits and what is great about them is that they now have our new school logo on them.

“The boys were really excited because it wasn’t just a new shirt. It was fantastic that Nic has also bought them new shorts and socks to match.”

The school’s team are currently one game away from the end of their season, which began in September, and while there might not be any trophy on the cards for them, Karen added that going out on the pitch in style has brought a smile to their faces.

“The enthusiasm the boys have is great. We have quite a small team and can only choose pupils from Years 5 and 6 unlike a lot of other bigger schools.

“But despite that, they are so positive and we can’t thank Nic enough really for helping us get these new kits.”
