A judge has adjourned the case of a mum who allowed a man to sell heroin and crack from her home after she collapsed on the way to court.

Karen Treadway was due to appear before a judge at Swindon Crown Court after admitting two counts of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

But after visiting her GP on the morning of sentence the 56-year-old was taken ill at the bus stop, a judge was told, and failed to make the hearing.

Mark Sharman, defending, said: “I have spoken to Miss Treadway’s daughter. She went to the doctor, as she had been unwell all week.

“On the way to court she collapsed while waiting for the bus. She (her daughter) and Miss Treadway’s other daughter went to take her back to the doctor and, if not, then A&E.”

Judge Robert Pawson said he would adjourn the case to Thursday, April 6, and extended bail for Treadway, of Vicarage Road, Churchward.

Treadway is due to face sentence alongside Mustafa Khayre who pleaded guilty to possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.

Khayre, 25, from Leicester, also admitted possessing criminal property in the form of £730 in cash and was remanded in to custody.

He is currently in prison serving another sentence and will have to be produced so the two can be sentenced at the same time.
