LIAM Carter will appear at Swindon Crown Court next month to answer two violence charges.

Carter, 18, of Welcombe Avenue, faces two charges dating from July 5 last year at Buckhurst Field.

He is accused of threatening unlawful violence and of maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to another man. He was released on conditional bail until his hearing on April 24 on the condition that he has no contact with four named individuals.

Two teenage boys also face charges of threatening to use unlawful violence on the same date and will also appear at the crown court on April 21.

Norman Ford has been ordered to pay £50 compensation to two men after he launched a homophobic attack against them.

The 21-year-old, of Bunce Road, pleaded guilty to both offences of assault by beating dating from February 26.

Magistrates said they found that the offence was motivated by hostility towards people of a particular sexual orientation. In addition to the compensation, he must also pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A district judge will preside over the sentencing of a man who admitted driving while above the drug drive limit.

Ali Sari, 36, of Moredon Road, pleaded guilty to driving an 11-plate BMW on Whitworth Road while over the limit on December 20 last year. Investigations showed he had 5.7mcgs of cannabis in a litre of his blood, exceeding the limit of 2mcgs which is in place to take into account the possibility of passive smoking. He further pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of herbal cannabis.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon adjourned proceedings until May 5 for Sari to appear at Chippenham Magistrates' Court before District Judge Simon Cooper, who will consider if there are special reasons for not ordering an endorsement or disqualification. In the meantime he was released on unconditional bail.

A man is to stand trial at the crown court later this month accused of being in possession of cannabis and £4,700 in cash.

Nasir Nawaz, 29, of Beck Close, Greenmeadow, is accused of both offences dating from August 24.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon ordered the matters be heard by a jury at Swindon Crown Court on April 21.

A 21-year-old man who is banned from having direct contact with anyone under the age of 16 has been hauled back before the courts after he was arrested for breaching his bail conditions.

George Godbeer, of Yarmouth Close, Toothill, is currently on bail from the crown court facing charges of sexual touching against minors. During his latest appearance at court on Saturday he denied having direct contact with someone under the age of 16 on February 24 and March 9, but this was proven during proceedings.

Magistrates readmitted him to conditional bail until his next appearance at the crown court on a date to be set, banning him from contacting four named boys, or going to a Swindon primary school. He must also not have any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.

A man who breached his restraining order by visiting his mum’s house said he only made the trip to tell her that he had become homeless.

Robert Roberts, 40, gave an address of Bryers Wood when he appeared before magistrates on Friday, where he admitted the breach, imposed back in February, as well as failing to surrender to court at a previous hearing. He was told he must pay £185.

Michael Moran, 53, has been handed a 12-month community order after admitting using racially aggravated language to a police officer.

Moran, of Clive Parade, appeared before magistrates on Friday for sentencing relating back to an incident on November 9 where he damaged a bench at the Moonrakers pub and assaulted another man. Moran, who has previously been barred from the Moonrakers pub in 2015, was told he must also pay back £160.

Anita Enstone has been fined £50 after she admitted stealing toys and food from Sainsbury’s.

The 56-year-old of Greenfields, South Marston, pleaded guilty to the offence dating from February 22 when she stole £18.25 of goods from the supermarket.

She must also pay a £30 victim surcharge and £50 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A 22-year-old man has been banned from driving for a year after he was caught over the drug drive limit.

James Herron, of New Road, Chiseldon, was found behind the wheel of an 03-plate Ford Fiesta on Mead Way with 5.1mcg of cannabis in his blood. The legal driving limit is two mcgs to take in to account the possibility of passive smoking.

In addition to his ban he was ordered to pay £85 court costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

He also admitted that this offence put him in breach of a community order imposed by magistrates in Devon on October 14 of last year for assaulting a police officer.

Michael McDonagh, 38, has been ordered to undergo drug addiction treatment after he pleaded guilty to stealing four bottles of Jack Daniels valued at £100 from Morrisons on March 14.

McDonagh, of Whitworth Road, must also pay £50 compensation to the supermarket as well as a victim surcharge of £35, which was reduced to allow him to prioritise the compensation.

Jordan Woods has been sentenced to a 12-month community order after he admitted assaulting a woman by beating on December 5 of last year.

The Boscombe Road resident, 22, must also pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service towards the cost of bringing the matter to court and an £85 victim surcharge.

George Sparkes-Corless has been sentenced to a one year community order after he admitted assaulting a woman by beating on February 23.

The 20-year-old of Roche Close must also pay a victim surcharge of £85 along with £50 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Lisa Wells, 36, has been fined £40 after she admitted stealing various goods from Asda on December 12 of last year.

The Fairford Crescent resident was ordered to pay £100 compensation to the supermarket as well as a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Haydn Andrews has pleaded guilty on a basis to a charge of assaulting a woman by beating on Valentine's Day.

A Newton Hearing will now be heard at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court in Chippenham on April 19 to establish the facts of the charge. In the meantime the 23-year-old, of Curtis Street, was released on unconditional bail.

Sharon Thomas has been ordered to pay £75 compensation after admitting a racially aggravated offence.

Thomas, 46, of Raleigh Avenue, admitted using threatening or abusive language or behaviour within the hearing of someone who was caused harassment as a result of her racist outburst.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon made no order for a victim surcharge or court costs due to the time she had spent in custody.

Driving without a licence in a car that was not insured has seen a man fined.

Phillip Jones, 44, was caught driving a 51-plate Toyota Yaris on Shrivenham Road on February 23, despite not having a licence or insurance to drive the vehicle. Magistrates sitting in Swindon fined him £120 and ordered he pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service along with a £30 victim surcharge.

A man in his 20s has been banned from driving for three years after refusing to provide officers with a specimen of his breath.

Officers suspected that James Leach, 28, had been driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol on February 26 but Leach, of Portal Road, refused to provide a specimen of his breath.

Ninna Gibson, chairman of the bench at Swindon Magistrates' Court, ordered he carry out 250 hours of unpaid work and pay £85 court costs along with an £85 victim surcharge. In addition, she banned him from driving for three years.

Josh Fitzwilliams has been fined £80 after admitting he was drunk and disorderly in a public place.

The 27-year-old, of St Mary's Grove, admitted the offence on Victoria Road on February 23 when he came before the town's magistrates.

He must also pay £85 costs to the prosecution along with a £30 victim surcharge.
