MORE than 130 teenagers at Commonweal School joined in Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day by creating an original music video to raise money for children’s charities.
Ali Sutcliffe, head of performing arts at Commonweal, said: “We do our best to support charity events and offer help to those less fortunate than ourselves.
“And taking part in Comic Relief is a fabulous way of doing this as a whole school project to raise money.”
She added: “We were discussing the idea of getting a few original songs written within the school.
“Then with Comic Relief coming up in the diary, it gave us the perfect output for the project.
“Within hours, Nick had written the song with a catchy chorus and heart-felt message.”
Ali then set about selecting various students to sing lines of the song and invited Commonweal Collective to join together to sing the rousing chorus.
The recording process took around a week with teacher Nick Weaver, students and staff nipping in and out of the recording studio whenever it became available.
The whole track has more than 150 voices including staff and the senior management team and instrumentalists from the C6 Performing Arts course.
The CD is on sale for £5 with all profit going to Comic Relief.
