Three people were arrested in Swindon last night following a report that they were carrying a firearm in their vehicle and pointing it at members of the public.

Shortly before 8pm last night, a call came in to Wiltshire Police that a vehicle had pulled into a garage in the Gloucestershire Police area and one of the occupants had pointed a gun at someone.

A number of units began a search for the vehicle. It was located and stopped in Cricklade Road, Swindon.

All three occupants were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm or imitation with the intent to cause fear or violence.

They are two males aged 20 and 18, and an 18-year-old female, all from the Gloucestershire area. The 18-year-old male was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug.

They were all taken to Gablecross custody and have since been transferred to Gloucester for interview.

Sergeant Rachel Hardy said: “This is an example of good partnership working between neighbouring forces – our colleagues in Gloucester were able to immediately notify us of this vehicle which enabled us to locate the vehicle as it entered Swindon and make swift arrests of the occupants.

“A BB gun was found inside the vehicle as well as a bag of suspected class A drugs. We now have three people in custody.

“I would like to thank the member of the public who alerted police to this incident in a bid to ensure the safety of the wider community.”
