WHEN Swindon Town's heroes take on MK Dons in their relegation clash this weekend there won’t be a hair out of place.

And it will be thanks to barber Guy Awazi, who owns Guy’s Hair Salon and has been cutting the players’ hair for three years.

His trendy Drove Road barbershop is just yards from the Sky Bet League One side’s County Ground, where the players will take on their Milton Keynes rivals on Saturday.

Guy, 31, grew up in East London and supports West Ham. But the dad-of-one, who says he has been cutting hair for 22 years, admits to supporting the Robins too.

He said: “We are in Swindon. Of course we support them.”

The Drove Road barbers styles the hair of many of the side’s top players, including defender Nathan Thompson, striker Jonathan Obika and goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux, whose gloves will determine if Swindon crash out of the league after Saturday’s game.

Guy cut the players’ hair ahead of their Wembley clash against Preston North End in 2015. The sharp hairstyles do not seem to have helped Swindon’s aces, however, who lost the game 4-0.

Although he is the barber to the stars, Guy is reticent when pressed on what youngsters should ask for if they want to look like their County Ground heroes.

“The styles change so quickly,” he told the Adver when we visited his barbershop yesterday lunchtime. “But we keep up on the latest trends.”

Sadly, Guy won’t be at the MK Dons clash on Saturday. “We’re just too busy,” he said.

Saturday’s game will be a hugely important match for Swindon Town, whose place in the Sky Bet League One lies in the balance. Coach Luke Williams’ side are just three points away from safety.

Just two weeks ago the Robins were facing certain relegation. But two wins in a row have seen the team inch away from relegation. This weekend’s game will seal Town’s fate.

Ticket prices for this Saturday’s match have been slashed by the club. The Swindon Advertiser is urging fans to get behind the County Ground side, telling those keen on rivals MK Dons: “We’re not Don yet.”

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash player Nicky Asoje, who scored Swindon Town’s late winner last weekend, said: “If we stay up, it is going to be a massive achievement and we’d love to go back to the County Ground and see eight or nine thousand.”

The Adver is also giving lucky Town fans the chance to win a pair of tickets (one adult and one child) for the game each day between now and Saturday. Search ‘Swindon Advertiser’ on Facebook to find out how to be in with a chance of winning.
