A TROUPE of all-singing, all-dancing performing arts students have returned from Disneyland Paris after taking part in a prestigious competition.

The group, which consists of dancers as young as seven-years-old, hail from Greenmeadow’s Kitty Langan Studios School of Performing Arts and last month they spent a weekend in the French capital wowing judges with their talents.

The competition saw the team of 37 performers compete with more than 1,000 dancers from all over the UK in a variety of dance, singing and musical theatre disciplines.

And after months of hard work and preparation, the troupe came away with four 1st places and 12 2nd places.

Dance teacher Katie Langan, who has taught at the school for almost six years, was very proud with all the performances.

She said: “I am very proud of them, they did so well. It was a really tough competition because you just never know who you are up against, and all the other competitors did great.

“Some of the girls were really nervous beforehand. A few didn’t want to get up, but they did a super job in the end and everyone loved it, it was an amazing weekend.”

Kitty Langan, which currently has more than 90 dancers under its tutelage, teaches a range of dance disciplines including jazz, ballet, musical theatre and contemporary.

Five of the girls are taking their GCSEs this year, so they have had to fit the intense training regimes around their studies.

“There was a lot of pressure, but it all came together in the end,” said Katie, smiling.

“Nearly everyone came away with a trophy and everyone got a medal for taking part.”

Sixteen-year-old Lyndsey Logan said: “It was a brilliant weekend, a really great experience. A personal highlight of mine was singing With You from Ghost the Musical.

“I also really enjoyed seeing everyone else’s achievements, especially as some of the routines they did were quite tough.”

Looking at the competition and wondering if you’re good enough to compete would play on anybody’s mind.

But Katie had some advice for her dancers. She said: “I always say to them that you mustn’t ne disappointed if you lose to someone who deserved to win.”

Olivia Keenan, 12, who suffers from a spot of stage fright, said: “I was really nervous before I went up, but I was fine as soon as I got on stage.

“I absolutely loved it, it was amazing. Seeing everyone do their routines was incredible.”

Paris had better watch out because the girls are hoping to compete again next year.
