A 49-year-old woman from Toothill was brought before magistrates charged with using threatening and abusive words or behaviour in a public place and obstructing a police officer.

Deborah Amer pleaded guilty to the offences and was handed a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20.

She was also told to pay £35 towards the cost of the prosecution.

A teenager has been told to cough up £215 by magistrates after driving along Thamesdown Drive without due care and attention.

Lloyd Morrison, 18, of Colbert Park, was fined £100 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £30. He was also ordered to pay a further £85 towards the costs of the prosecution and his driving license was endorsed with three penalty points.

Anand Rajagopalan, 42, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared before Swindon magistrates.

The Windsor Road resident was made the subject of a community order to undergo six months of treatment for alcohol dependency and to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and a further £85 towards the cost of the prosecution. He was banned from driving for 32 months.

Jamie Loveridge will stand trial at Swindon Crown Court next month accused of a string of offences.

Loveridge, 20, of Dumbarton Terrace, is accused of demanding with menaces that another man hand over his car to him on April 7, stealing a laptop, silver chain and jacket from the same man on the same date and then driving an N-reg VW Polo on Okus Road, despite not having any insurance, or a licence.

Magistrates sitting in Swindon adjourned proceedings for a trial to be held at the crown court on May 12.

Stephen Spillane, 47, of Harding Street, denies being drunk and disorderly in Swindon, despite an order being imposed on him preventing him from such behaviour, imposed by magistrates in June of last year. He will now stand trial on June 7.

A Gloucester man who was found to be drink-driving in Chiseldon has been disqualified for 42 months.

Kieran Shoemark, 21, of Stowe Green, was found to have 100 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

After pleading guilty, magistrates also told Shoemark he must pay £2,049.

Robert Elliott, 48 of Cleverton Court, Penhill, must pay £140 after he admitted carrying an offensive weapon - a wooden rounders bat - in public on March 10.
