FIREFIGHTERS tackled a house fire in Penhill this morning, with a woman and three children managing to escape.
Two crews from Swindon and one from Swindon tackled the blaze on Marston Avenue after they received a call alerting them to the fire at 8.51am.
The fire was tackled by 9.30am and an ambulance crew was at the scene to look after the occupants of the house.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "The initial report was that a kitchen fire had spread to other parts of the property.
"A woman and three children were taken into the care of the ambulance service and treated for smoke inhalation.
"They appear to have made their own way out as they did not need to be rescued from the building.
"Crews tackled the fire with three hose reel jets and used four sets of breathing apparatus."
