A SWINDON-based recruitment firm is to give youngsters the chance to experience the world of work as staff open their doors for a day.

On Wednesday, April 26, Office Angles, located in Commercial Road, will give one lucky teenager the chance to shadow staff in a bid to help kick start their careers.

Branch manager Deborah Morse said: “We are trying to invest in helping young people get work by giving them the opportunity to spend the day with us to see what it’s like.

“The young people of today are going to be the ones looking after us when we are old, so it’s good to be able to do something for them.

“It can sometimes be hard to get good career advice and there’s nothing better than experiencing the working environment first hand.”

Sentiments were echoed by employee Sam Hobson.

He said: “Youth unemployment worldwide reached 71 million in 2016. Add to that the rising skills gap and growing competition from across the globe and you will see why we are so passionate about helping people reach their full potential in the world of work.

“Not only will they see how many different careers are available to them, but they will also have the chance to experience how our organisation works.”

The student will be invited to shadow the firm’s employees during a whole day of ‘learning by doing’ where they will be given an insight into a working day.
