RECRUITMENT agency 24-7 were crowned as the winners of the Services to the Community Award at the Wiltshire Business Awards on Friday night.

The agency, who specialise in the driving, industrial, healthcare and commercial sectors, were handed the BBC Wiltshire sponsored award for hard work in the charitable sector and the work they do to get clients back on their feet following hardships.

However, it was a double whammy for company director Melody Thompson on the night, who was whisked to the ceremony by her husband Julian following a successful day at the polls in the Wiltshire local election.

"I feel like I have been on an emotional rollercoaster but we are absolutely delighted," she said. "Being able to help people is one of the best things about working in recruitment.

"It is all about changing people's lives and if we can make a difference, then it makes it all worth it."

Over the last year, 24-7 staffing have taken part in dragonboat racing, sent staff abroad to struggling countries on a Business Against Poverty scheme to learn about how to make a difference and was the driving force behind a project to rejuvenate Chippenham Town Centre.
