POLICE officers were called to Old Town this morning after an altercation between a minicab driver and a traffic warden got out of hand.
The incident began shortly before 11.45am outside the Post Office on Victoria Road.
Passers by were subjected to foul language which could be heard from some distance away as the cab driver aggressively contested what he argued was an unfair ticket for waiting on a double yellow line.
With bystanders beginning to involve themselves in the dispute and the traffic warden fearing that the situation could escalate, the police were called.
Four officers responded and the cab driver was placed in the back of a police car where he was dealt with regarding offences public order offences.
The driver was not arrested.
