CLOWNS, trapeze artists and spinners wowed crowds in Brinkworth this weekend as the circus came to town.

Happy’s Circus descended on Brinkworth Rec complete with circus acts and big top for an afternoon of magical delight.

The day, attended by more than 500 people, featured a nerf gun tin can alley, glitter tattoos, hula hoping, and circus skills workshops, along with ice-cream and wood-fired pizzas.

Guests were kept entertained by lead clown Mr Happy and his partner-in-crime Sergei who played a series of mischievous pranks.

Inside the Big Top crowds were treated to a mixture of tomfoolery from the clowns and jaw-dropping including trapeze artists and a performer balancing on the tent with a bike.

The day was organised by the Brinkworth Earl Danby's School Association (BEDSA). Helen Clarke, BEDSA co-chair said the day had been a roaring success

She said: “It was absolutely brilliant. The children sat front-row and they loved every second of it. The day was all about the children and it was great.

“A few of the dads got custard-pied in the face and the crowd was sprayed with water. They took it really well and they thought it was hilarious. The atmosphere was just incredible and the Rec came alive. It was great to see everyone having such a good time and enjoying themselves throughout the day.

Brinkworth Earl Danby's School Association stages regular fun events to entertain families and raise money for school trips, books, computer equipment and classroom improvements.

The event raised an estimated £5,000 for the school which will be used to renovate the playground.
