THE headquarters of a children’s services charity that went into liquidation last month has gone on the market with a £195,000 price tag.

West Swindon Family Centre, which ran a pre-school from the former house in Gainsborough Way, closed due to financial problems after losing half of the funding it received from Swindon Borough Council to provide flexible childcare.

The organisation also ran a day nursery in Pine Court, but it and the pre-school both closed at the end of March.

Formed in 24 years ago, the charity offered support, guidance and parenting skills to families. Fifteen staff were made redundant in the day care centre closures.

Alder King, which is marketing the property, said its use as both a home and a nursery showed its versatility.

James Gregory, a partner at the Swindon office said: “The property is suitable for a variety of commercial uses, for example a doctor’s or veterinary practice or as offices, subject to planning consent. Equally it could revert to residential use.

“There is significant pent-up demand in the market for freehold property and we therefore expect this opportunity to attract a lot of interest from prospective commercial owner occupiers.”
