AN 80-year-old man who is accused of raping a girl aged five or six more than 50 years ago has had his case adjourned.

Arthur Johnson, of Meadowcroft, also faces allegations of indecent assault and indecency with a child in relation to the same complainant.

All three counts, none of which have been formally put to the defendant, are said to have taken place between June 1965 and April 1967.

Judge Tim Mousley QC, sitting at Swindon Crown Court, adjourned the case to Friday, June 21, and extended the bail of Johnson, who was not in court for the hearing.
